Advances in cardiac electrophysiology are occurring so frequently now that researchers are building on each other’s breakthroughs, constructing a pyramid of medical achievements that none would have thought possible just a decade ago.
As an example, clinical and laboratory investigators have produced computer-created, three dimensional depictions of the stages and breakdowns in normal performance as a healthy heart deteriorates into an arrhythmic mass of uncadenced muscle. And on an even more vial plateau that has immediate import for patients with arrhythmias, scientists have created a device called an automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator (AICD). A 3-inch –wide piece of titanium that is embedded under a patient’s skin near the abdomen and plugged into the heart with the electrodes, the AICD continuously monitors the electrical activity of the ventricles. When the internal rhythm becomes dangerously fast, without prompting, the device delivers a counter shock that normalizes the pulse beat. The one-year arrhythmia mortality rate of patients with arrhythmias who have had cardioventer defibrillators installed is a meager 2 percent. Dr. Hein Wellens is the first person to ambitiously research sudden cardiac death and the use of electrophysiological techniques in patients with Ventricular tachycardia.
In the modern days, people tend to follow unhealthy food habits. Children’s have already become addicted to junk foods. Oily food stuffs and deep fry items have become the favorites of all. Healthy fresh fruits and vegetables do not find place in most of our diet. The result of all these bad fried habits is obesity. Obese children’s are many in number these days. They go behind aerated drinks and junk food and ultimately spoil their health.
It is high time that all of us realize the necessity of staying fit. We should plenty of water. We should include lot of fresh fruits and vegetables in our diet. Physical activity is must for all of us. Walk a mile everybody which is very good for your health to lead a long healthy life. Avoid taking lifts, instead use the staircase. Regular jogging or walking might help a lot. Practicing Yoga will also help in maintaining the fitness of health. Let us all eat healthy food and do regular exercise to stay fit.
In today’s world, most of the women suffer from various diseases due to Iodine deficiency. The amount of Iodine found in our body ranges from 25 to 50 mg. We acquire the needed amounts of Iodine via the iodized salts. We also get small traces of Iodine via Sodium and Potassium salts. Since Iodine is found in large amounts in Seas and Oceans, Iodine is naturally present in the sea foods. Vegetables cultivated near sea side areas also contain good amounts of Iodine. Iodine can also be obtained from foods like egg, meat, milk and milk products. Iodine seems to be present in large levels in meat rather than the vegetables.
Iodine is required for the normal functioning of the thyroid glands in our body. These thyroid glands help in oxygen supply to the cells and ensure proper growth of all the organs. They help in proper functioning of the brain. When the required amounts of Iodine are not present in our body, then the thyroid cells accumulate near the throat and form a big swelling which is termed as Goitre. Iodine deficiency causes other symptoms like lethargy, cough and tiredness. The muscles in the body lose its strength for lack of Iodine. Iodine deficiency also causes accumulation of fat within the body and causes obesity. The ill effects associated with Iodine deficiency are innumerous. Let’s be more cautious about the Iodine levels within our body.
Has anybody understood nature? Have anyone tried to? Well, many of us have tried it. But the real fact is that those many of us are unable to digest the truth that when you try challenge the nature, it obviously wins over you. That’s true to the core. Man has never been an enemy to vegetarianism.
A person who is a non vegetarian never says that vegetarian food is not healthy. But does the vice versa proves true. NO. Why is that so? A PETA activist who understands the torture rendered to a chicken that is being killed to be served at KFC is reluctant to accept the fact that many of their so called healthy vegetarian food stuff bought at similar US based restaurant chains are bio engineered and are not healthy.
Well not exactly the French fries and nuggets and mushroom pies, but the ingredients are. They are not ready to accept that bio engineered vegetables, though they are tasty and healthy are victims of modern age holocaust. Bio engineering a man is unacceptable, but a food which is processed and grown similarly is accepted as a foodstuff by all vegetarian lovers.
They never understand that we are testing nature’s ability to stay healthy. We are crucifying nature by introducing bio engineering into it. Nature has its own way to kick our ass. Blend of its anger has already shown its mighty light through the ozone. We are yet to see the rest. A strict vegetarian who dislikes killing animals is ready to keep the vegetables in a refrigerator. Does a frozen food keep him healthy? He would die at an early age than his counterpart (non vegetarian). If bio engineering vegetables and crumpling its growth inside a incubator room is acceptable then KFC still serves good and healthy chicken.
Type I insulin-dependent diabetics must learn how to check their blood sugar; their lives depend on it! Many Type IIs, though, never learn. That’s a mistake because monitoring blood sugar provides valuable information that can be used to adjust food or drug intake for all diabetics. And this monitoring is especially important in any strategy to lose weight.
Some doctors lower their patients’ insulin or oral insulin-stimulating drugs the day they start on a weight-loss diet. This prevents a frightening episode of low blood sugar four or five days into the diet which happens if blood sugar drops and insulin or oral drug dosage is still high. Most successful at losing weight, with fewest hypoglycemic episodes, are diabetics who carefully monitor their blood sugar and consult with their doctor as often as every week about having their drug dosage lowered as their blood sugar drops. Diabetics whose fasting blood sugar is over 240 may need to lower their blood sugar first, then reduce their drug dosage. And for thin diabetics, the best treatment is drugs. Losing weight won’t help.
An extract of the Chinese cucumber plant is being tested to see if it can inhibit or even kill the AIDS virus in infected immune-system cells without harming normal cells. A researcher at the Chinese university of Honk Kong discovered that trichosanthin, a protein extracted from the root of the Chinese cucumber plant, was able to cripple macrophages, a type of white blood cells. He brought this to the attention of the director of Aids immunobiology research laboratory at San Francisco General Hospital. In laboratory studies, the San Francisco group discovered that the ingredient GLZ223 seemed to block reproduction of the AIDS virus in T-cells, another component of the immune system.
While that’s an important step in combating the virus, only a small percentage of T-cells become infected, and they usually die off soon afterward. Clinical trials to determine the safety and effectiveness of various injected doses of GLQ223 have begun at the University of California, San Francisco, and San Francisco General Hospital. Experts caution that without medical supervision, using substances derived from the Chinese cucumber – sometime called “compound Q” – can be extremely dangerous.
Some diabetics confess having a strong urge for sweets, an urge only made worse by total denial. Nutritionists offer this solution: If you know its going to lead to bingeing, don’t try to deprive yourself of sweets totally. Instead, incorporate controlled portions of sweets into your diet on a daily basis. Other diabetics, though, know they do better if they cut out all sweets except fruits. Why? Because they cant eat just one. It’s actually easier for them to go cold turkey than to fight temptation.
Four o’clock in the afternoon seems to be the bewitching hour for many would-be diabetic dieters. Their resistance to overeating drops to its lowest just about the time their insulin level is peaking. Insulin is a well known appetite stimulant; high insulin levels are thought to be one reason so many Type II diabetics struggle with weight loss.) The afternoon peak usually happens with naturally produced insulin pending on when and what you have eaten so far during the day. And it happens like clockwork in people who take a morning injection of long-acting and no other insulin during the day. Instead of trying to stick it out and failing, plan a snack for this or any other particularly tempting time. Take the calories from somewhere else in your day.
People suffering from diabetics should have a strong vigil on their food intake. If they follow a well planned and controlled diet, the ill effects of the diabetics can be greatly reduced. The amounts of Carbohydrates, Fat and Sugar taken everyday in the food should be strictly watched. Bitter Guard has to be included in the diet. Potatoes and Breads have to be kept from the diabetic patients. They should stay away from all kinds of aerated drinks. Fresh juices can be taken with out adding sugar to it.
If needed, artificial sweeteners can be used. They can have fresh vegetable salads that would provide them with all the essential nutrients needed and the calorie intake with these vegetable salads is also less. Most importantly, these vegetable salads have to be consumed within two to three hours after its preparation. They can drink fresh hot vegetable soups also. Soups made of tomato, mushroom, soya and chicken can be taken on a regular basis. Vegetables like Carrot and Beetroot should be avoided in their diet as these vegetables contain high levels of sugar in them. High Fat and carbohydrate content in the food has to be replaced with protein levels. Just watch your diet with a little extra care to fight diabetics!
